(photo by karen walrond) from Kelly's blogI've been thinking a lot about something that Andrea told me. I had responded to one of her posts about
time away with her girlfriends, and how I wanted to know how she forged those bonds. She directed me to
a post by Kelly Rae Roberts about how they created their "tribe."
Finding a support system is hard enough; but finding people who understand who we are creatively is a huge struggle for many of us, including me. It all seems to easy when it's blogged about and there are pictures of people collaborating on art. But even those relationships had to get their start, and in Kelly's situation, they simply started online.
I really want to find a group of people like this; the hardest thing about it is that it takes work. Like anything else.
Like all adult friendships.
I don't have children so it's hard for me to meet adults at playgrounds and PTA meetings. But even if I did, I doubt they would be creative individuals who take time to nurture their souls like these women do. What gets me about Andrea's group is that they all see the need for this nourishment and will take time away from their family and kids to lap it up. That makes for a balanced person!
How have you formed your own creative groups? I would love to hear from you!!!
